Our Story

We first opened the doors of Montgomery County Kung Fu in 2010. At that time, we were located at a shared space in Germantown, Maryland. In 2011, our head instructors and owners, Sifu Brad Schonhorst and Sifu Liz Schonhorst, decided that we should have our own space in order for the school, students, and Kung Fu to really grow. That year, we moved to the Kentlands community located in Gaithersburg, Maryland and have been operating out of our space there at, 420 Main St #200, Gaithersburg, MD 20878, ever since.

In 2021, Sifu Brad Schonhorst passed the legacy of the Montgomery County Kung Fu school down to his inner circle student, Mike Lin. Since then, Sifu Mike has been passing down the teachings of Ving Tsun to a new generation of practitioners. For more, visit our lineage page.

Our Mission

The mission of our school is to provide authentic Ving Tsun (Wing Chun) Kung Fu to anyone who wishes to learn. We use the word 'authentic' to denote that this is Ving Tsun that has been un-altered and un-changed by our own ideas. From the techniques, to the way we train, to the Sifu (teacher) and Toudai (student) relationship, we provide authentic Ving Tsun.
